Bonjour, pour les débutants qui veulent participer au forum.
Si vous jugez que c’est trop long faites-les en plusieurs fois.
Le corrigé sera mis en fin de semaine.

Le comparatif d’égalité : as + adjectif + as
My car is as big as yours. Ma voiture est aussi grande que la tienne.
Alexis isn’t as old as Benjamin. Alexis n’est pas aussi âgé que Benjamin.

Exercice 1
Construire des phrases contenant le comparatif d’égalité.
(yes : forme affirmative – no : forme négative)
1 – mice / big / elephants (no)
2 – my English teacher / patient / maths teacher (yes)
3 – Susan / tired / Jane (no)
4 – my baby / intelligent / your baby (yes)
5 – London Bridge / high / the Eiffel Tower (no)

Le comparatif de supériorité.
- Comparatif des adjectifs courts : adjectif + er + than.
Kate is nicer than Sue. Kate est plus gentille que Sue.

Adjectifs courts : adjectifs d’une syllabe et adjectifs de deux syllabes terminés par y et er.
Old => older – happy => happier - clever => cleverer

Modifications orthographiques.
Heavy => heavier - funny => funnier - big => bigger -
fat => fatter

- Comparatif des adjectifs longs : more + adjectif + than
A Rolls-Royce is more expensive than a Ford. Une Rolls-Royce est plus chère qu’une Ford.

Exercice 2
A partir de ces éléments, construire des phrases contenant le comparatif.
Ex. John/tall/intelligent/Betty => John is taller and more intelligent than Betty.
1 – lions / big / dangerous / cats
2 – my new teacher / funny / patient / the last teacher
3 – this car / noisy / expensive / that car

Le superlatif de supériorité.
- Superlatif des adjectifs courts : the + adjectif + est.
This is the highest building in town. C’est l’immeuble le plus haut de la ville.

- Superlatif des adjectifs longs : the most + adjectif.
This is the most expensive car in the world. C’est la voiture la plus chère du monde.
Notez bien l’emploi de la préposition in après le superlatif lorsque le complément désigne un lieu.

Les comparatifs et superlatifs irréguliers.
Good => better => the best
Bad => worse => the worst
Far => farther => the farthest
Little => less => the least

Exercice 3
A partir de ces éléments, construire des phrases contenant le superlatif.
Ex. Rolls Royces/expensive/cars => Rolls Royce are the most expensive cars.
1 – this is / high / tower in London
2 – John / good / swimmer
3 – my father / careful / driver I know

Non je ne pense pas car ils font partis des adjectifs courts.
Adjectifs courts : adjectifs d’une syllabe et adjectifs de deux syllabes terminés par y et er.
