Places and form of power/Bac
Message de psychori posté le 19-03-2016 à 18:20:29 (S | E | F)
Bonjour,
J'ai fait ma dernière fiche, j'aimerais que vous m'indiquiez si je réponds bien à ma problématique car j'ai vraiment l'impression d'être à côté! De plus, comme je passe l'oral bientôt, pourriez-vous la corriger ? Merci d'avance !

Today I am going to speak about the notion Places and form of power.
First of all, I would like to give you a definition of power. Power is the ability to control others and to make things happen despite obstacles, resistance, or opposition. This of course leads to conflict between those who have and exercise power and those who have none or little of it. In the US particularly, there is a form of power with the right to bear arms. So, it’s why I will interest about this subject: Do guns grant you power and what are the consequences in the US?

To answer the question, we will focus on the second amendment and Americans’ opinions and after that, the limits of that power.

To begin with the gun power, it’s important to know that the right to bear arms is guaranteed by the second amendment for a long time. The history of the country shows that the Americans have always felt the need to be armed. The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution is the amendment and the section of the Bill of Rights that says that people have the right to keep and bear arms. The Second Amendment was adopted into the United States on December 15, 1791. The Second Amendment and the Bill of Rights were introduced into the United States by James Madison. But the second amendment may be understood differently by different people. Hence, you can understand that it is true only under some circumstances, namely that the army is not powerful enough and if they need civilianize to be organized in well-regulated militia. Furthermore, some of them sees considerable advantages to bear arms. The best example is that they want to protect their families against bad guys or simply their identity because American people take care of the constitutional right to protect it. But others don’t see this as an advantage but more like a call to the slaughter. The opposition of opinions on the right to bear arms divides America. In other words, this opposition is shown in several ways including with statements for and against the right to bear arms. For instance, in Texas this is where the Americans are the most for and in Washington, is where the Americans are the most against. Often when we watch TV we see debates between pro guns and anti-guns. While the pro guns encouraged to increase the number of guns in America, anti-gun tries to ban it.

Secondly, the fact that the USA is divide is particularly because of the shootings and the number of deaths. For example, the Americans have experienced big traumas as a result of such shootings, for the most traumatic, in schools. The school shootings of December 14th, 2012 has produced the deaths of 27 people, including 25 children. The killer was suspected of having mental problems but nothing has been proved. Given this staggering number of fatal shooting, two associations are known by their virulence. The first, is the NRA (National Rifle Association) which trains people and kids to shoot. This association promotes safety and the 2sd amendment. People know how to kill someone precisely. And the Second association is the Brady Campaign. In opposition of the NRA, the Brady Campaign want to ban weapons in US because 17.228 is the number of deaths by guns, sources of the Brady Campaign. As a famous sentence used by the NRA is “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people”, I think, if guns were banned, criminals would find another way to kill someone. Today, Americans have a problem with using firearms but they aren’t ready to accept the possibility to abolish the second amendment. As far as the right to bear arms were abolished, the government has to strengthen the safety of his population using more policemen.

To conclude, the right to bear arms is a big power for Americans’ people like an identity. Some of them love arms and want more arms in the US. They care about the second amendment. The number of deaths worried but they are so divided about this right that they do not put solutions in place yet.
I think it would be interesting to ask whether that the second amendment still relevant for Americans today?

Hello,

This is my new correction of my oral.

Today I am going to speak about the notion Places and forms of power.

Bonjour,

Voilà ma correction. Je galère vraiment avec l'anglais...

To answer the question, we will focus on the second amendment and the Americans’ opinions and after that, the limits of that power.

To begin with the gun power, it’s important to know that the right to bear arms has been guaranted by the second amendment for a long time. The history of the country shows that the Americans have always felt the need to be armed. The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution is the amendment and the section of the Bill of Rights taught me that people have the right to keep and bear arms. But others don’t see this as an advantage but more like a call to the slaughter. The different opinions on the right to bear arms divides America. In other words, this opposition is shown in several ways including statements for and against the right to bear arms. - the army is not powerful enough and to be (enlever TO BE)organized in well-regulated militia.
- The different opinions on the right to bear arms divides (conjugaison) America.

- Secondly, the fact that the USA is divided is particularly because of the shootings and the number of deaths: ma formulé, allège ta phrase.
