Correction/UK ou République
Message de monty71 posté le 31-10-2015 à 13:55:23 (S | E | F)
Bonjour,
Je suis en classe préparatoire et j'ai un dm à rendre pour mardi. J'ai besoin d'aide pour corriger mon DM d'anglais, voir si les structures de phrases sont acceptables pour un anglais parlé.
Merci d'avance

Mon sujet est : In your opinion, could the United Kingdom become a republic in the years to come ?
Between 1653 and 1658 England became a republic under the government of Oliver Cromwell but what about today? Nowadays the United Kingdom is a constitutional monarchy which is more and more contested. So what if the United Kingdom become a republic ?
With the Princess Charlotte birth, the William and Kate's daughter, popularity of the Windsors reachs its peak and the United Kingdom is in high spririts. Indeed, the Royal Family take part of the United Kingdom culture and they are the emblem of the United Kingdom all around the world. Their role is more nominal than practical. The appointment of the Prime Minister is a bunden of the sovereign and the sovereign must sign international treatees. All along the years, Monarchy has allowed to instore a certain stability in the country too.
Nevertheless, there is a group of people who are against the mainstream and want to end the monarchy, its name is "Republic". It's a Non Gouvernmental Association often preparing countermovments against the Royals, for exemple it boycotted Kate and William's wedding in 2011. It also shows cases as the Education Minister Micheal Gove proposition. In 2012, the minister wanted to "lifts taxes" to buy a new Yacht to the Queen Elizabeth II. "Republic" also arganise conference in University and public debates on this subject. And what are British thinking about it? According to a Republic survey 54% of the British think it will still be a monarch in fifty years. That is quite low. The British often crticize the Royals beacause of their incomes. The Royals' incomes come from taxes which has been lifted in the country. The United Kingdoms is in recession and the population tights its belt and they think all the monay must be used to improve the economic situation.
Thus, the monarchy take part of the United Kingdom history, memory and culture but today it is contested. The new non governmental organisation "Republic" want to end the monarchy. No one knows the future but the next future head of State might be chosen by the people.

J'espère avoir une réponse. merci d'avance !

Bonsoir,

Between 1653 and 1658 England became (je n'aurais pas utilisé ce verbe : become = aspect ponctuel. Or 1653-1658 = longue durée.) republic under the government of Oliver Cromwell but what about today? Nowadays the United Kingdom is a constitutional monarchy which is more and more contested.(je ne suis pas sûre que contest soit le verbe juste ici) So what if the United Kingdom become( if + prétérit : pour marquer l'irréel) a republic ?
With the Princess Charlotte birth, the William and Kate's daughter, the popularity of the Windsors reaches its peak and the United Kingdom is in high spririts. Indeed, the Royal Family take part of the United Kingdom culture (takes part of... je ne comprend pas vraiment)and they are the emblem of the United Kingdom all around the world. Their role is more nominal than practical. The appointment of the Prime Minister is a bunden (je crois que le mot qui convient est prerogative ou duty) of the sovereign and the sovereign must sign international treatees. All along the years, Monarchy has allowed to instore a certain stability in the country too.
Nevertheless, there is a group of people who are against the mainstream and want to end the monarchy, its name is "Republic". It's a Non Gouvernmental Association often preparing countermovments against the Royals, for exemple (/!8 orth) it boycotted Kate and William's wedding in 2011. It also shows cases as the Education Minister Micheal Gove proposition.(I don't understand this sentence) In 2012, the minister wanted to "lifts taxes" to buy a new Yacht to the Queen Elizabeth II. "Republic" also arganise conference in University and public debates on this subject. And what are British thinking (je n'aurais pas utilisé un present en Ving) about it? According to a Republic survey 54% of the British think it (what does it refer to?) will still be a monarchy? in fifty years. That is quite low. The British often crticize the Royals beacause of their incomes. The Royals' incomes come from taxes which has have been lifted (not sure you can say lift taxes, you should checkin the country. The United Kingdoms is in recession and the population tights its belt (the verb is to tighten. Here, I would use Be+Ving) and they think all the monay must be used to improve the economic situation.
Thus, the monarchy take part (I don't really understand what you mean by take part) of the United Kingdom history, memory and culture but today it is contested. The new non governmental organisation "Republic" wants to end the monarchy. No one knows the future but the next future head of State might be chosen by the people.

Voilà voilà, j'espère que ça vous aura aidé. A retenir : on dira THE Queen / The Prince mais Queen Elisabeth and Prince William.
Bye !
