Espaces et échanges/Correction

Bonjour !
je passe bientôt mon oral d'anglais et j'aurais vraiment besoin d'aide pour corriger ma notion. xxx
Merci d'avance !

I’m gooing to talk about "Spaces and exchanges". First of all, I would like to give you a quick definition of this notion. It deals with the geographical and symbolic areas that all societies occupy and the interactions between men and different societies. Our world is built on the exploration and conquest of new spaces. The different cultural, economic, sociological and language interactions have shaped and characterised our modern-day world. But a new concept allowed us to exchange, share and widen our culture every day thanks to modern improvements : the globalisation.
In order to illustrate this notion, I will use two exemples, the first one is a press article from the Nationnal Geographic Channel, named «New cities» and the second one is « Postcard from the edge », a article written by Jennifer Dawis.
According to the Nationnal Geographic Channel, the reorganization of global space that has been set in motion over the past quarter century by processes of international economic change has had some important consequences for North American cities. Traditionally, cities' economic functions have been to organize and facilitate production and distribution within local, regional, and national spaces. Increasingly, these functions are being eclipsed by cities' roles in global commodity chains. In this context, a few cities have acquired world city status because of their involvement in linking and shaping whole complexes of commodity chains. In most other cities, the globalizing world economy can be seen in the changes of economic fortune attached to the flows of foreign investment, imports, and exports, and in the local economic restructuring and spatial reorganization driven by a new international division of labor.
Now, I would like to give a second exemple of globalisation consequences, the Gap year. A gap year is a year after high school and before entering university, that some use as an opportunity to get experience. They can do services in other countries to experience the world before going back to school. They have the possibility to be involved in environmental programs or humanitarian projects. The gap year is supposed to make students more mature and responsible and lead them to discover and learn new customs, meet new people and participate in new activities. Students can also discover themself. For example in the article « Postcard from the edge », Jennifer Dawis spent time in an Inuit's village as a teaching assistant. She learns a lot about the community and their way of life. Finally, she wants to become Doctor and go back there. It's a human experience.
In conclusion, globalization has opened boarders and enable us to communicate with people abroad faster and easier. Indeed we can exchange with other people thanks to social networks which leads to the growth of diversity, and the exchange of different cultures. I belive that globalization has led to the discovery and sharing of these many cultures, and if some states still advocate an isolationist policy, however others encourage these exchanges, and this is what allows some individuals to be confronted to a whole different civilization and sometimes see their beliefs and convictions challenged. In this way with Globalization, the world has become a small village.
