Bonjour,
il me semble avoir entendu un Américain dire 'losted' à la place de 'lost' au prétérit.
Est-ce qu'un anglophone pourrait me dire si cela est employé aux Etats-Unis ?
(ou bien ai-je mal entendu, finalement il pouvait très bien dire : lost it !

vous me faites penser à la Renault serie limited prononcée "limitède" dans la publicité radio alors que la bonne prononciation est [limitid]
Pour moi, même en étant américain, losted me paraît bien faux quand même! Cela ne me semble pas être une erreur courante mais attendons l'avis d'un vrai américain !

I have never heard it, even as 'une erreur courante'. However, I suppose that it is possible. Was it in a song, where they merely wanted a rhyming word, and therefore invented it for that purpose?

I'm on the dark side of the road
knowed rhyming with road, but your "losted" is a preterite formed on the already irregular form of to lose, I lost, lost: I used to see it in the tests for irregular verbs when pupils were a little confused.....

Yes, gerondif, that's it exactly! The most likely solution is the one funnix suggested: 'lost it'.

Je crois qu'il a dit "lost it"
Personne, à l'exception des enfants, ne dirait pas "losted."
