Message de cakob posté le 02-01-2015 à 15:17:09 (S | E | F)
Bonjour,
serait-il possible s'il vous plaît de corriger mes fautes pour mon oral sur Espaces et échanges?
Merci d'avance

I'am going to deal with is the places and exchanges. This notion broach the subject of the interactions between men and the different societies on the geographical and symbolic areas in the world. The societies have always influenced the others beyond their borders through to the exploration and the conquest of new spaces. The subject of my oral presentation will be the immigration in the US. The various waves of migration from and towards the USA for example, have fluctuated according to economic ups and downs and have significantly been influenced by the country's attractiveness. To answer the following question: How was America built? First, I will present the history and the reasons of the immigration, next I will examine the difficulty of the trip and the passage of border and finally, I will develop the following aspect of the Mexican immigration to US.
Firstly, the article "Immigration and the United States" by Hasia Diner written in February 2008 talks the history and the reasons of immigration. The immigration to the USA take place in the five time periods. The immigration started in 17th century, the wave was small. The country of origin of immigrants was German or British and dreamt of cheap land. The second wave started in 1820. 15 millions of number of immigrants entered in the USA came from central Europe or Scandinavian countries. The soldiers leave their countries after were freed from military service at the end of Napoleonic wars. Then, in 1865, 25 million immigrants came from southern and eastern Europe because there were economic problems in their native countries. In early 20th century, with the legislating immigration, the number of immigrants was restricted. They were political and religious refugees. The latest wave started in 1965. The African and Asia immigrants came in the USA to find a job. Through immigration, nearly all Americans have ancestors coming from various countries.
Secondly, the document iconographic of "a nation of immigrants" present differents picture at the conditions of the trip. The first is a drawing represents immigrants on board a ship which is entering NY harbour. Their faces express hope and the desire to start anew in America. The second is a image with black slaves are on a ship which is probably heading for the USA. The document refers to the triangular trade. The third is a photo which illustrates the conquest of the west by white settlers in the 19th century. The two last is a photos concern Hispanic immigration to the USA. The immigrants had to face a lot of dangers and difficulties on their way to America. They had to leave their home country and say goodbye to people they loved and would never see again. They had to wait in the ports until they found a boat. The trip was very long, hard and dangerous. There were storms, boats were not very safe at that time. They could get ill and die on the way. To add at this, the difficulty of passage of border, including at Ellis Island. The document "Almost There" extract from "Brooklyn" by Colm Toibin in 2009 present this difficulty. For entering in the USA, several conditions have a work permit, appearance good, do not be sick and not be alone. The immigrants had to go through some formalities such as medical examination, many questions about what they did back in their homeland, what they expect to do in USA. Ellis Island embodied the place where everything could become possible. The American Dream is reachable.
Thirdly, the document is an untitled cartoon by Chapatte. Il est axé sur l'immigration aux Etats-Unis. The picture is divided into two parts. A wall made of brick and barbed wires is dividing the land into two parts. On the left, we can see a Mexican man walking in the sand. It seems that he has been walking for a long time because he is sweating. He must be exhausted, hungry and thirsty. The country beyond the fence is the USA. We can make out skyscrapers in the background and a Mc Donald’s logo in the middle of the desert. Those two elements are symbols of the USA. The American flag and a placard that reads US borders are placed above the fence. In the middle, there is a person for to check the identifiants of people who want to cross the border.
This is the American dream, the Mexican people are leaving their country because they are attracted to the USA. As too many Mexicans want to cross the border illegally, the USA has decided to build a border from 700-mile with barbed wires so as to prevent illegal crossings. However , the USA are ready to sell their goods, their products to Mexican people but they do not want them to cross the frontier. The USA want to take advantage of the Mexican money without letting Mexicans crossing the border.

To conclude, the immigrants are built the America but we do not give them enough luck nowadays because the illegal immigration. Yet, it is a well-known fact a million of people of illegal immigrants living in the US. But in my opinion, I wonder if the lives of immigrants in the United States are really better than the ones they might have in their country of origin since they earn too little money to live in good conditions. It is harder for them to integrate and they face discrimination because they don’t share a common culture with the USA.
