Bac/Mythes et héros
Message de xxromaaane posté le 05-05-2014 à 11:47:52 (S | E | F)
Bonjour

MYTH and heroes
I’m going to talk about the notion of Myth and heroes. A hero is someone with lot of qualities who do the good, who change the things. A hero is a person admired for his achievement. A myth is an ancient story about heroes, gods or magic. We can ask what are the Americans myths and heroes?
In the first party I am going to talk you of the myth and one the second heroes.

A myth can be an object, for examples in the cartoon Dreamland by Peter Pismestrovic published in 2005. You can see the major symbol of the USA the myth and the heroes. You can see the statue of liberty. It’s a Myth for the peoples like the migrants for example for the Italians emigrant because this statue is the first thing they saw when they arrived. It represents the American dreams. The USA is an Eldorado, where everything is possible.
A big story can become a myth like the pilgrim’s history. In 17th century the pilgrims father left England in September 1620 aboard the may flower to escape religious persecution. Some peoples died during the trip. In December 1620 they arrived in Plymouth in America. The first winter was terrible and the Native Americans, the Indians help the pilgrims, gave food and medicine for help the pilgrims. In the ironical image created by Jeff Parker , you can see the Indians reject the pilgrims and do a border for stop from doing accost. Because the immigrants wanted impose their culture to Indians while the Indians respected the pilgrims’ custom and traditions. The myth is the legendary story about the pilgrims and the heroes are the Indians because they help peoples.

A hero can be someone who influences the society as in Dreamland. The heroes who you can see are the sculpture of four presidents of the United states, on the Mont Rushmore, the presidents are Washington who participated in the written of the U.S constitution, Jefferson was a defender of the liberty and equality, Roosevelt, he elected 4 times and created social security and Lincoln abolished the slavery . They were heroes because they change the America. You can see too legendary characters as Elvis Presley, John Wayn, Marilyn Monroe they aren’t really heroes but famous peoples.
A group of person can change the society, and I think this person are heroes, for examples during the sixties, many people participated in the betterment of the society, they rebelled and showed, thanks to the peoples there were sexual equality, less racism, and less homophobia. I think these peoples can be considered as everyday heroes because they defend a good thing and they didn’t abandon.

Then the myth can be a famous story like the pilgrims, and an object of extreme admiration, an icon can become a myth like the statue of liberty. And heroes are someone who change the society like president or like a group of person
