Hi!
in exercise 103034,
sentence 4: Could it be "has gone" instead of "went"? I chose the present perfect because of "recently"
sentence 7: I wrote "had been dispersed" . Is it wrong?

Hello,
4) no! when you say, "I went to London in December", you describe an action, a movement, you left a place for another place.
Recently will be understood that way: He went to London recently, he left for London recently, two weeks ago.
"John has gone to London " means that he is no longer with us in this room, he is absent from this place,he is STILL in London.
"John has been to London recently" could be said because now, he is back in France with us, showing off in his wonderful London T-shirt.
7) Yes, ! The crowd was dispersing when we reached the place.
The crowd had been dispersed by the police before/when/by the time we/ reached the place.
The crowd had dispersed before/when/by the time we/ reached the place.
