Message de misterg posté le 27-09-2011 à 17:17:07 (S | E | F)
Hello everybody,

J'avais pour exercice de réaliser des questions; pouvez-vous me dire si celles-là sont correctes s'il vous plaît?

Have you ever organised any events ?

Why do you think that the student association is very important ?

DO you know the main association at University ?

How many languages de you speak ?
Do you work under the pressure ?

Have you ever work in a team ?

How far do your parents live from University ?

Did you use to a teddy bear for the night ?

How many brothers and sisters do you have ?

How often did you check your mails yesterday ?

How late did you get up over the last summe holidays ?

How many languages can you say "I love you" ?

How long have you been a student ?

Did you practise a sport that you don't anymore now ?

Thank you for your help.

Do you work under the pressure ? "Do you work well under pressure?"

Have you ever work in a team ? "worked"

How far do your parents live from University ? "How far away from university do you parents live?"

Did you use to a teddy bear for the night ? "Did you used to sleep with a teddy bear?"

Hello

Les propositions de stammer, elles sont justes sauf qu'on dirait 'use to' avec 'did'. C'est à dire, lorsque 'do' est employé au passé, 'used to' devient 'use to'.

lastest? I didn't even see that, gerondif. Thanks.
Thank you for the additional links, L. For some reason, I could only find the one.

Bonsoir,

How late did you get up over the last summer holidays ? "What was the lastest time that you got up over the summer holidays?"
lastest me semble ne pas exister. j'aurais dit: What time at the latest did you get up in the morning during/over the last summer holidays ?

Did you practise a sport that you don't anymore now ? "Did you use to do any sports that you don't do now?"
Which sport do you no longer practise ? est plus compact.
Which sport don't you practise any more ?
Which sport did you use to practise but have given up since ?

Hello gerondif

since = adverb

Which sport did you use to practise but have given up since?

I would say: Which sport did you use to practise but have since given up?

We were divorced two years ago and she has since remarried.

The accident was blamed on the pilot, who has since retired.

Hello np,

You're right ! However, since can be rejected at the end of the sentence.

This example comes from your first link:
He left home two weeks ago and we haven't heard from him since.

I feel that "long since" would come first.
Which sport did you use to practise but have long since given up ?

Rebonjour

Yes, isn't that interesting? I can't seem to find a specific rule to account for those differences/preferences. I wonder if the choice has something to do with whether the verb is transitive or intransitive?

Thank you for your help.

J'ai juste un question pourquoi vous rajouter In devant la question How many languages can you say 'I love you'.

Hello again,

np, I would say the negative form tends to allow since last wheras the affirmative form can nudge "since" before the past participle.

He stopped smoking three months ago but has since started to put on weight.
He stopped smoking three months ago after a severe stroke and hasn't resumed since (since then).

I feel that if I put since last, I can stress it more for emphasis but it's just my feeling.

misterg:
En combien, dans combien de langues pouvez-vous/savez-vous dire:"je t'aime"? = In how many languages can you say "I love you"?
