Correction/letter from Kenya

Bonjour à tous,
J'ai un devoir maison d'anglais à faire.Mon sujet de rédaction est : Write the letter the main character sends to a friend after living and working in Kenya for a few weeks. (150words)
Sachant que l’héroïne y est allée pour diffuser les livres et lutter contre l'illetrisme.
Voilà ce que j'ai fait, mais je suis certaine d'avoir des erreurs, donc si quelqu'un veut bien prendre 5 minutes pour me corriger, ce serait adorable.

You tried to talk me out of going here but now, I can tell you that you were wrong. I can't believe my eyes, everyday seems to be a present to be there and to help the population. I address the issue of illiteracy and I am over the moon. If you could see the hope in the children's eyes.. I was very good welcomed three weekds ago when I told them I was here to teach them how to read. I am delighted, I really think Kenya can change : books are their future. Not only do I love my new life and my job but I also enjoy their way of life and their custums. I try to adjust me yet they already accept me.
Today, I would rather stay here than come back. I invit you to meet me here. Hope all is good in America. Hugs and kisses.
