Bonjour,
j'ai une synthèse à rendre demain sur l'article "how india fails its women" de The Economist et j'aurais besoin de votre aide pour la corriger
Lien internet
Merci d'avance pour votre aide précieuse!
This document is an extract from an article issued the 5th of July 2018 in The Economist and entitled « How india fails its women ».This an informative title which explain that women are rejected in India. India is an emergent country with the second most developed population in the globe (one billion). However this population is underdeveloped, they stick to old tradition with a patriarcal society where women are trapped at home with children and men are braiding bacon at home. Just a few part of India’s women are working, which is one of the main problem for India’s economy.
Why india needs women to work?
First we will see the situation of India, then we will study the problem and finally we will take an interest in solutions.
In India, women have one of the lowest chance to work than in any other country of the G20 except for Arabie Saoudite. The number of working women have decrease since 2005 even if the economy double in India.
If the part of working women were equal with man’s part, the number of workers in India will be bigger than in UE and Asia. According to the FMI, they will be 27% richer. The population will have a better quality of life and women rights and power in the family will be extended.
This decrease of women workers is due to 3 facts:
First of all, girls are staying at school much longer than they used to, so the number of working woman decrease. Secondly, wealthy families prefer that woman work at home because in emergent country it is a sign of prosperity. Finally, there is a lack of opportunity for women.Men take up 90% of the 36 millions additional jobs created since 2005.With mechanization, women are no longer working in agriculture. Moreover, the fabric industry, which is the industry where women work in other emergent country, isn’t developed in India.
Stereotype answers as promoted education aren’t enough because it needs too much time. Moreover studies shows that India woman going to school aren't working if they have less than the University level. Urbanization isn't a solution too because the rural woman have two times more chances to find a job then urban’s one’s.
So the solution would be to reform policy for woman. The employment policy needs to be free to create more factories. To continue if men were helping Women just a bit more at home, the number of working women will increased and urge on the economy of one half billion.
However, even if the number of girls attending school increase. A lots of people are septic. They are afraid that it is just a parent’s strategy to find a wealthier husband and not to make them entered in the labour market.
In addition, the actual government in India leads by Narendra Modi it part of a social-conservative movement which means that's he embraced a patriarcal society and will not act for women liberty. If nothing change Arabie Saoudite will take the lead over India on the part of woman workers.
To conclude, this article shows how the development of India leans on women. But nowadays India is still a society where women’s are trapped at home with children and under educated. They are under the sway of men and suffer of a lack of rights. They are seen as a financial burden if they are attending school because they don’t help the family business.Solution as education and urbanization aren’t nought. The government needs to reform employments. But, India government stick to deeply rotted and highly respected traditions. Moreover even if progress seems to be make some supposed that girls are attending school just to find a wealthier husband.
