Hello
I found on the Natural-History-Museum website the sentence :
"It has only been continuous since about 12,000 years ago." Lien internet
I would have said : " .....for about 12,000 years.
Why "since... ago" can be used here ?
Is it because of the "about"?
Thank you very much
J.R.

Hello,
since is correct here to indicate the starting point of a "continous presence".
Thus, about xxx years ago is equivalent to a date, which requires since.
Does it help ?

Hello again, J.R.
You wrote "I should have said : " .....for xxx xxx xxx."
But you probably meant I would have said : " .....xxx xxx xxx.'
or they should have said : " ......"
Have a nice day
