Dear Friends,
Pour « l’année prochaine » comme pour cette année 2017, les traductions ne changent pas beaucoup. La version a pris un peu de longueur. Dites-moi si c’est trop … 
Je vous rappelle que vous pouvez toujours poster tout ou partie du devoir et que vous pouvez en mettre une partie « Ready for Correction » et d’autres « In progress » ; (le but est de ne pas trop retarder ni précipiter le travail de correction, car je nourris toujours la correction de vos travaux et ai donc besoin de les avoir tous pour pouvoir commencer ce travail très long.)
Cet exercice est un
et sa correction sera en ligne le lundi 15 janvier 2018 tard. Bien sûr, je vous donne THE FORCE. 
I) Translate into English :
1)- Il monte ma meilleure amie contre moi et personne ne fait cela impunément ! Maintenant, j’ai atteint le point où tout cela m’est égal et il va me le payer !
2)- « Tu sais, Paul est un homme maintenant et il est scientifiquement prouvé qu’un jeune homme est si occupé à vivre sa propre vie qu’il ne pense même pas à venir voir sa mère. Cela ne signifie pas qu’il l’en aime moins pour autant. »
3)- Notre père était un modèle si étonnant de ce qu’un homme devrait être … Pour toi, aucun homme n’a réussi à être à sa hauteur …
4)- Maxwell: « Il me fatigue modèle géant ! Il me fait passer pour un moins que rien devant ses amis. » « Remets-le à sa place ! »
5)- Maxwell: Tu parles d'une affaire ! Je me suis fait avoir une fois, mais je ne me ferai pas avoir une seconde fois.

(You CANNOT use two or more compulsory words consecutively!) PLEASE, WHEN YOU WRITE YOUR SENTENCE, PUT CAPITALS TO THE COMPULSORY WORDS!
Je vous rappelle qu'« une phrase », une seule, se termine par un point [final, d'exclamation ou d'interrogation], peut avoir de la ponctuation interne ",/; /:/[...], et qu'elle doit avant tout avoir un sens.
Le but ultime est de faire une seule phrase complexe, courte ( moins de 50 mots, si possible ...), mais je le répète, qui ait un sens et sa logique interne !) Cet exercice est TRES difficile, c'est pourquoi il demande beaucoup de réflexion et d'attention, de rigueur aussi dans l'application des règles. Vous ne pouvez le poster QU'UNE FOIS (ne faire qu'un seul exemplaire).

Beaucoup de règles, j'en suis désolée ... mais déjà comme ça, c'est énormément de travail, et sans un effort de chacun, c'est ingérable.) Quand j'étais petit, parfois,j'allais faire la tournée de collecte des loyers avec mon père. J'étais trop petit pour comprendre ce que
j'étais en train de voir, mais je me souviens de l'impression que cela m'a laissé, comme si, précisément parce que je ne le comprenais
pas, les perceptions toutes crues de ces évènements allaient directement au fond de moi,et elles le sont encore aujourd'hui, aussi
vivaces qu'une écharde dans le doigt.
Les batiments en bois, avec leurs couloirs sombres et inhospitaliers. Et, derrière chaque porte une horde d' enfants jouant dans un
appartement dépouillé; une mère toujours renfrognée, surexcitée, fatiguée, penchée sur une planche à repasser. Plus vivace est l'odeur

- Avec impunité = « with impunity », bien sûr, mais ceci est beaucoup moins employé en anglais qu’en français … Employer plutôt "to get away with it ». Joe nous a aussi employé une expression excellente: to go scot-free;
Lien internet- cela m’est égal= it doesn’t matter/ It’s all the same to me/ I don’t care/ I don’t care one way or the other/ I couldn’t care less. I’m not bothered/
- il va me le payer = I’ll get you for that/
2)Paul est un homme, maintenant. Il est scientifiquement prouvé qu’un jeune homme est si occupé à vivre sa propre vie qu’il ne pense même pas à venir voir sa mère. Cela ne signifie pas qu’il l’en aime moins pour autant.
He’s a grown man, now. It’s a scientific fact that young men become so busy living their own lives that they don’t even think about their mothers. It doesn’t mean/ he loves her/ they love them any less for that.
- « Paul est un homme !» = Certes ! Pour atténuer cette drôle de phrase, l’anglais rajoutera sans doute « grown » « a grown man » => qui a grandi = adulte = a grown-up!
- Etre occupé à faire = to be busy doing stg
3) Notre père était un modèle si étonnant de ce qu’un homme devrait être … Pour toi, aucun homme n’a réussi à être à sa hauteur …
Our father was such an amazing role model of what a man ought to be. For you, no man has lived up to him.
- Etre un modèle pour quelqu’un = to be a role-model
- Revoir : such an amazing man ; this man is so amazing=> he’s so amazing a man (plus formel)
- Etre à la hauteur de = to live up to/ to be up to/ to measure up to/ (Bilan d’action => present perfect)
4) « Il me fatigue modèle géant ! Il me fait passer pour un moins que rien devant ses amis. » « Remets-le à sa place ! »
«He’s a real pain!/ He’s giving me a hard time! He makes me look like a mere nobody in front of my pals.» «Set him straight!»
- « il me fatigue, modèle géant ! » = "He’s a real pain"= assez fort et informel / Stop nagging, will you!/ You’re getting on my nerves!
- « modèle géant » = very, very much. J’ai choisi l’expression la plus forte pour remplacer cette formule …
- faire passer quelqu’un pour = make someone look like/ pass someone off as/
- « Remets-le à sa place ! » = « Set him straight ! » = remettre sur le droit chemin.
5) Tu parles d'une affaire ! Je me suis fait avoir une fois, mais je ne me ferai pas avoir une seconde fois.

-(2) Je pense que vous avez remarqué la structure de l’écriture. Dans ce paragraphe, descriptif, nous n’avons pas de phrases complètes grammaticales, mais des propositions juxtaposées (mises l’une à côté de l’autre) ou au mieux, coordonnées (reliées entre elles par une conjonction de coordination (ici, « et »). Ceci exprime le regard d’un enfant et les réflexions qu’il y attachait. C’est aussi la marque de la répétition inexorable de la même scène aperçue à cause de la ressemblance des familles visitées. L’enfant, inconsciemment, se « protège » de ces scènes et de la société défavorisée qu’elles lui dévoilaient (en retenant son souffle afin de ne pas inhaler (laisser pénétrer en lui) l’odeur qui caractérisait ces expéditions (et qui allait le blesser…).
- Plusieurs d'entre vous ont employé « penchée sur la planche … » Certains ont été conscients de la maladresse de l’expression en français et auraient voulu employer « courbée », mais n’aimaient pas l’image suggérée. J’ai bien aimé
… mais ai choisi de leur faire « courber le dos », ce qui accentue l’impression de pénibilité de la tâche. Merci de vous poser de telles questions « métaphysiques »
… Elles sont le chemin vers les réflexes de traduction et les progrès. -De même, il ne s’agissait pas « d’un manque d’argent » qui serait passager, mais « du (LE) manque d’argent », qui, lui, est généralisé.
