My proposal marking to help him... :
Hardly HAS THANKSGIVING GONE/PAST THAT WE THINK about presents we're going TO ask for the HOLIDAY SEASON and make a list. I know that presents will have BEEN OFFERED by parents and RELATIVES. The problem IS ABOUT WHAT TO ASK FOR, and to be QUITE PRECISE to BE sure OF GETTING the RIGHT gift. If you 'RE NOT, YOU PERHAPS may RECEIVE SOMETHING THAT you don't want TOO, or the RIGHT ONE but with the WRONG colour. I know that « LIFE is LIKE a box of chocolates » . You MIGHT pick THE GOOD ONES, you MIGHT TAKE THE BAD ONES, or even THE WORST... My best ONES ARE CHERRY-FLAVORED but you mustn't HESITATE OVER TAKING what YOU like. I'm sure you will have WHAT you WANT. GO for it !
1. I can’t find my keys in my bag. I must have closed my door with my key in the keyhole, inside my flat... now, I'm calling for the locksmith!
2. It took them three hours to drive ten miles. There might have been an accident on the motorway...
3. Dad could hear Paul shouting at his sister : she must have played with his computer... or has rent his guitar. He always hates to borrow his own things to his sister!
4. I can’t understand why they haven’t arrived yet. They might have forgotten they were invited at dinner tonight or they may have been under the pouring rain and their car can't be working, because of floods on their road... where they flooded the engine...
5. Look, Kevin can’t manage to do his exercise. You should help and explain to him how to solve it.
Of course, I GIVE YOU THE FORCE back, you need it for marking my work and not only, and thank you very much for these funny and great exercises, ... as ever ! Have a very sweet week ! ...

Dear here4u,
After racking my brain for a long while, I present you my work,
ready to be corrected.
Hardly thank giving is passed than us thinks about presents we’re going ask to the season holiday and make a list I know that presents will have offer by parens and relative the problem to know what asking and to be enough precis to have sure receiving the left gift if you ‘ra’nt, perhaps you may receive some thing than you don’t want to or the right on but with the left colour. I know that” life is as a box of chocolates” you may pick goods one, you may took bads, or even worst, my best onesis the cherries one but you mustnt hesit taking what U like Im sure you will have which you wanted. went for it.
HARDLY HAD THANKSGIVING PASSED WHEN WE THOUGHT about THE presents we’re going TO ask FOR the HOLIDAY SEASON, MAKING a list. I know that presents
WOULD be OFFERED by PARENTS and RELATIVES. The problem IS YOU MUST know EXACTLY what you ARE GOING TO ASK FOR, BEING PRECISE enough IN YOUR REQUEST IN ORDER TO BE SURE OF receiving the right gift. If you AREN’T, you MIGHT receive SOMETHING THAT you don’t want, or the right ONE but with the WRONG colour. I know that “life is LIKE a box of chocolates”. You MIGHT pick THE GOOD ONES, YOU MIGHT TAKE THE BAD ONES, or even THE WORST ONES. My best
LlKED ONES ARE THE CHERRY LIQUOR CHOCOLATES, but you MUSTN’T HESITATE:
JUST PICK ALL OF THEM OFF AND I’M SURE you will have THOSE YOU like, TOO. GO for it.
1. I can’t find my keys in my bag. I could have left home forgetting them on the table, so I must phone the blacksmith….…………………….
2. It took them three hours to drive ten miles. There was a long line of vehicles on the highway, which were going on at a snail’s pace. Therefore they couldn’t succeed in arriving on time. ………….
3. Dad could hear Paul shouting at his sister. She must have done something very grievous to make him lose his temper.……………….
4. I can’t understand why they haven’t arrived yet. They can’t have missed the train, otherwise they would have phoned us… ………
5. Look, Kevin can’t manage to do his exercise. You should help him, so he would avoid receiving a bad mark. ………………..
Thank you very much and have a great week.
So long.

Hello Here4U and everyone
Thanks a lot !
Again, I've found the 2nd exercise quite easy to do, but I've had tough times with the 1st one, with a few hesitations. We'll see...
I) Help my student:
[H]ardly HAS THANKSGIVING passed than WE THINK about THE presents we’re going TO ask FOR the season holiday and make a list[.] I know that presents will BE OFFERED by PARENTS and RELATIVES[.] [T]he problem IS to know what TO ASK and to be PRECISE enough to BE sure TO RECEIVE the RIGHT gift[.] If you AREN'T, perhaps you may RECEIVE SOMETHING THAT you don’t want [] or the right ONE but with the WRONG colour. I know that « life is LIKE a box of chocolates »[:] you may pick UP GOOD ONES, you may TAKE BAD ONES, or even THE WORST ONES [(] my best ONES ARE the CHERRY ONES[).] [B]ut you MUSTN'T HESITATE TO TAKE what YOU like[.] I'M sure you will have WHAT you WANT. GO for it[!]
J'ai une question : "Perhaps" n'est-il pas redondant si on met "you may ..." ? J'ai failli l'enlever.
J'ai hésité avec le temps : something that you didn't want
1. I can’t find my keys in my bag. I must have left them in John's bedroom. I must go back and fetch them otherwise my husband might get suspicious.
2. It took them three hours to drive ten miles. There must have been a gigantic traffic jam. On the other hand, they might have lied about their time of departure.
3. Dad could hear Paul shouting at his sister. She couldn't take it anymore, so she left the room and couldn't help crying.
4. I can’t understand why they haven’t arrived yet. They should have shown up one hour ago. They should have called us to tell us not to worry, shouldn't they?
5. Look, Kevin can’t manage to do his exercise. You should try to help him a little. You can't let him draw a complete blank like that, can you?

Hello!
Voici votre correction.
I) Student in Danger! SOS, student in need:
Hardly has Thanksgiving passed than/ when/(1) we think about the presents(2) we’re going to ask for the Holiday Season and make a list. I know that presents will be offered (3) by parents and relatives. The problem is to know what to ask and to be precise enough to be sure to receive the right gift. If you aren’t, you may receive some things that you don't want, or the right object, but in the wrong colour. I know that «life is like a box of chocolates»: you may (4) pick good ones, you may take bad ones, or even worse/ the worst/ ones. My favourite chocolates are cherries but you mustn’t hesitate to take what you like. I’m sure you’ll get what you wanted. Go for it!
(3) - "will be offered"= forme passive (auxiliaire être + participe passé)= seront offerts
1. I can’t find my keys in my bag, I must + have + participe passé = quasi certitude passée. (qui marque l’antériorité de l’oubli !)
I can’t find my keys in my bag, I must have left them at home.
2. It took them three hours to drive ten miles. There must + have + past participle = quasi certitude passée.
It took them three hours to drive ten miles. There must have been huge jams on the road.
3. Dad could hear Paul shouting at his sister. She + quasi certitude passée = must have + participe passé
Dad could hear Paul shouting at his sister. She must have annoyed him very much
4. I can’t understand why they haven’t arrived yet. They auraient dû ... (devrait) + passé [have + participe passé]
I can’t understand why they haven’t arrived yet. They should have been here an hour ago.
5.Look, Kevin can’t manage to do his exercise. You+ should (= conseil/ reproche )+ base verbale
Look, Kevin can’t manage to do his exercise. You should help him!
Of course, I GIVE YOU THE FORCE! Number 12 has been online for a few hours. Good Luck!
