During the Qing Dynasty( 1644-1911), kung fu teachers trained fighters at temples around China. One of these Shaolin Temple was destroyed by the rulers. But some kung fu masters escaped.
There is a story about one of those masters. She was a Buddhist nun named Ng Mui. She taught her style of martial arts to a young girl named Wing Chun. This is how a style of fighting called Wing Chun Kung Fu started.
Learning martial arts helps you in many ways. it makes you become stronger, faster and safer. You can think more clearly, pay attention better and relax more easily.
Martial arts help your memory too. You need to remember difficult moves and do them quickly. This is useful in everyday life.

Hi, Aline
I think I am among those to which Kung Fu could be very beneficial. I am a bit old to start, though (52).
What's your opinion?

hi,vance:
In fact, kung fu is only one of six traditional Asian martial arts. others are taichi, judo, karate, Thai kickboxing, tae kwon do.
Personally, I advice you practise tai chi. At first, tai chi was for fighting, just like other chinese martial arts. later, it became a slow and gentle exercise. The moves are still based on fighting positions, but they are practised very slowly, that is why tai chi looks easy to do, but is difficlut to do well.
Today, people all over the world practise tai chi, including more than ten million people in China. People practise sets of movements. These sets are usually made up of 18 to 108 movements. people spend years trying to make each move perfect. maybe you will become superhero!
