I'm a learner not a teacher. It's only a way to share what I learn ( I take evening classes in English)
The lesson
With "always" you use the present simple and it means "every time"
e.g. Tom always invites us to stay at Christmas
(=He invites us every Christmas)
You can also use the present continious with "always ". It means "very often", "too often" (===> that irritates you)
e.g. Tom is always inviting friends here
(=He invites them very often===> that irritates you)
Good learning

For your German, you can ask Willy and Travis.

I wanted to add something about "always".
We can also use it with the Present Perfect, to express something we still feel.
As an example : I have always thought she was a good girl.
Which means that in the past, I thought she was a good girl and I still think that today.
This is only a "plus" from the girl of the forgotten land !

Hi Domi68.
Yes, it's high time ....... you learnED/T it ! OK ?
cfr : - it's time you did your homework.
++++- it's time you did the housework ! There's dust everywhere !
++++- it's time the baby went to bed.
But :
- it's the first time I've (have) met President Chirac.
- it was the first time I'd (had) met President Chirac.
